Look what one nonprofit doing! This nonprofit, Mountain Haven Ministries, is a 501c3 it is owned and run by Shelley Costello-Porter and Patrick Porter, her husband.
They lived part-time in the great Smoky Mountains in Western North Carolina and part-time in Orlando Florida. When they left Orlando and came to Western North Carolina to start their nonprofit ministry they were immediately featured in local mountain newspaper. This really helps get their ministry into the mainstream media. Now look what they are doing.
Ty Pennington of extreme makeover, held a guaranteed rate contest giving away $100,000 to charity. In one little small, tiny mountain community were Shelley and Patrick reside, their local old battered prison won $50,000 to be flipped into a homeless shelter, halfway house at soup kitchen. Mountain Haven ministries is so excited to be a part of this prison renovation to help the hurting people in their local community.
